➤भारत सरकार द्वाराभारतीय रुपये को अलग पहचान चिन्ह निर्धारित करने के लिए 15 जुलाई 2010 को नया प्रतीक चिन्ह ₹ देवनागरी लिपि के 'आर' (R) को मिलाकर बनाया गया है भारतीय मुद्रा wourld की पाँचवी ऐसी मुद्रा है जिसका अपना अलग पहचान चिन्ह ₹ है। इसके पूर्व अमेरिका डॉलर ($), ब्रिटिश पाउंड स्टर्लिग (£), जापानी येन (¥), एवं यूरोपीय यूरो (€), का अपना अलग चिन्ह है।➤मुम्बई IIT के पोस्ट ग्रेजुएट डिजाइनर उदय कुमार ने इस
भारतीय मुद्रा ₹ को डिजाइन किया। इस समय वे IIT गुवाहाटी में सहायक प्रोफेसर के पद पर कार्यरत है।
➤राष्ट्रीय मुद्रा का यह प्रतीक देवनागरी लिपि के अक्षर 'र' ओर रोमन अक्षर 'R' का मिला-जुला रुप है देवनागरी लिपि के अक्षर 'र' को बीच मे एक रेखा काटती है, जो तिरंगे का पातिनिधित्व करती है ।

Indian government has made a new symbol on the 15th of July, 2010, by combining 'R' (R) of Devanagari script to set a separate identity mark by the Indian government. The currency of Indian currency is the fifth such currency that has its own separate identity. Formerly its US dollar ($), British pound sterling (£), Japanese yen (¥), and European Euro (€), has its own sign.Postgraduate designer Uday Kumar of Mumbai, IIT, designed this Indian currency ₹. This symbol of national currency is a compound form of the letter 'र ' and Roman alphabet 'R' of the Devanagari script, which cuts a line between Devnagari script 'र ', which represents the Tricolor.
